WhatsApp, the most used messaging application, is also used by many of us to message ourselves, although it is a platform where we message each other. Of course, we do not chat in messages we send ourselves, we usually send messages to take notes on important things.
Aware of this situation, WhatsApp has started testing a feature that has been missing for a long time. Until now, when you wanted to message yourself on WhatsApp, you had to send a message invitation from the web version and start an external ‘chat’. Now you will be able to start a conversation with yourself as if you were chatting with anyone in your contacts.
How will the new feature be used?
The new feature discovered in the beta version of WhatsApp’s desktop application, WhatsApp Desktop, will be available when you view the contacts in your contacts. You will be able to see yourself at the top of the page you selected in your directory, and you will be able to send yourself a message by clicking here.
It is not known when the new feature will come out of the beta version and come to the full version and be available to all users. Recently, WhatsApp was testing the feature that shows the profile photo of the message along with the message in messages sent in group chats.
So how were we sending messages to ourselves before?
We had to opt for an indirect way to send messages to ourselves on WhatsApp. For this, we used the ‘wa.me’ link that we normally use to send a direct message to a person or group. To send a message to ourselves, we opened the “wa.me//905XXXXXXXXX” link in the browser and clicked on the ‘Start chat’ option.
