There are only a few days left to the Apple event where the iPhone 14 series will be introduced. Leaks about iPhone 14 features are incessant. The new shared screenshot is of the perforated screen of the iPhone 14 Pro. The feature of the iPhone to be turned off is being moved to the screen hole of the iPhone 14 Pro.

Instead of a notched screen design on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max model, we will see a pill-shaped and perforated screen design with TrueDepth camera system hardware for Face ID.

Orange and green dot moving to screen hole

Thanks to the software, Apple will ensure the integrity of the iPhone 14 Pro’s screen hole, but more importantly, the screen hole will be used for the privacy statement. When an app uses the camera or microphone, colored dots will appear in the screen hole. On current iPhones, the green dot symbolizing camera usage and the orange dot representing microphone usage are located in the status bar. With the iPhone 14 Pro series, these indicators are moved to the screen hole.

When the privacy indicators are not activated, the gap between the two holes on the iPhone 14 Pros will be darkened to look like a single hole. iPhone 14 models will not provide a different experience as they will use the standard notch.

By tapping the green and orange dots, users will be able to get more information about which apps are using the iPhone’s hardware. Currently, this information is visible in the Control Center; Apps using camera, microphone and location are listed.

Refreshing the camera app

Apple is also redesigning the Camera app. From the new screenshots shared, it is noticeable that most of the controls have been moved to the top of the screen. Controls such as the Flash and Live Photo button are now located in the status bar, while more detailed photo and video settings are located directly below the screen hole. The camera preview will get a larger view.

These optimizations for the iPhone 14 Pro screen hole are optimizations that Apple is testing and currently planning to implement. Considering that they are software features rather than hardware features, they may not be completely changed or implemented after testing.
