AMD recently introduced the Ryzen 7000 series processors based on the new Zen 4 architecture. The release date, price information and technical features of the Ryzen 7000 series processors were announced within the scope of the event, and the curiosity of the users was satisfied. As part of the event, the new generation AM5 platform was also exhibited.

AMD Ryzen 7000 release date

Not all AMD’s new generation processors will go on sale in the first place. The team in red will first launch the Ryzen 9 7950X, Ryzen 9 7900X, Ryzen 7 7700X and Ryzen 5 7600X processors. These four processors will be available for pre-order on September 15. Officially off-the-shelf sales will begin on September 27.

AMD Ryzen 7000 processor prices

As we mentioned, the first wave processors in the Ryzen 7000 series will be available in retail stores on September 27. Pricing of the four processors introduced is as follows:

  • AMD Ryzen 9 7950X – $699
  • AMD Ryzen 9 7900X – $549
  • AMD Ryzen 7 7700X – $399
  • AMD Ryzen 5 7600X – $299

In the future, AMD will gradually begin to release other processors of the Ryzen 7000 series. But as always, the top models enter the market first.

AMD Ryzen 7000 processor specifications

Before going into the details of the four processors introduced, it is necessary to talk about the benefits of the Zen 4 architecture. AMD’s Ryzen 7000 processors use TSMC’s 5nm process node. The processors built in this production process and adopting the Zen 4 architecture achieve a 13 percent performance increase per cycle. However, compared to the previous generation, we can say that most of this performance is due to the extra cores and higher clock speeds added to each SoC. However, when comparing Zen 4 and Zen 3 cores, AMD emphasized that there was a performance increase of more than 29 percent in single-core performance and more than 35 percent in multi-core performance. In addition, thanks to the return of the architecture, the performance increase per watt has been increased to 25 percent.

PCIe Gen 5.0 graphics card support is introduced in the Ryzen 7000 series, where the L2 caches are doubled with an optimized cache configuration.

Switching to new AM5 socket

With the Ryzen 7000 processors, AMD is going to change the socket platform after a long time. Switching to the new AM5 platform with LGA1718 socket, the company will support dual channel DDR5 5600MHz local memory speeds. New motherboards will enter the market with X670E, X670, B650E and B650 chips. As with processors, we will first see high-end X670E and X670 motherboards from manufacturers. The high-end X670E and X670 motherboards will launch in September, while the B650E and B650 motherboards will hit the market in October.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X specs

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, the top model of the series, comes with a TDP of 170W. Consisting of 16 cores and 32 threads, the Ryzen 9 7950X, which has an impressive 4.5 GHz base frequency and 5.7 GHz boost frequency, comes with a total of 80 MB cache thanks to 64 MB L3 and 16 MB L2 level cache. The processor, which will enter the market at a slightly higher price than the Core i9 12900K, performs 57 percent higher than its rival Core i9 12900K in applications that focus on multi-core performance such as Chaos V-Ray. This performance is also achieved with up to 47 percent higher energy efficiency.

Ryzen 9 7950X smashes in gaming performance

In game performances, the Ryzen 9 7950X looks very successful. Compared to the previous generation Ryzen 9 5950X, up to 35 percent game performance gain is provided. Ryzen 7950X likewise manages to surpass the Core i9 12900K processor in games.

This success is significantly ahead of its rival not only in games but also in rendering performance, energy efficiency and single core performance. According to the GeekBench 5.4 single core performance test announced by AMD, the Ryzen 9 7950X, Ryzen 9 7900X, Ryzen 7 7700X and Ryzen 5 7600X are faster than the Intel Core i9 12900K.

AMD Ryzen 9 7900X specs

The second most powerful product of the Ryzen 9 family, the 7900X consists of 12 cores and 24 threads. The processor again comes with high frequency values: The 7900X increases the base frequency to 4.7 GHz and the boost frequency to 5.6 GHz. Like its big brother, the Ryzen 9 7900X comes with a TDP of 170W and a total cache of 76MB. The amount of cache of the processor is distributed as 64 MB L3 and 12 MB L2. Ryzen 9 7900X, which keeps the price of the Ryzen 9 5900X, which it replaces as pricing, will offer a much higher performance at the same price.

AMD Ryzen 7 7700X specs

AMD is the first processor in the Ryzen 7 family, the Ryzen 7700X. While this processor consists of 8 cores and 16 thread units, it will offer 4.5 GHz base and 5.4 GHz boost frequency values. As a result of these frequencies, 105W TDP is obtained. While the Ryzen 7700X has a total cache of 40 MB, this is divided into 32 MB L3 and 8 MB L2 cache. The direct competitor of this processor will be the Core i7-12700K.

AMD Ryzen 5 7600X specs

Finally, we encounter the Ryzen 5 7600X. The CPU, which is the most affordable processor of the Ryzen 7000 family to date, consists of 6 cores and 12 threads. The processor that comes with a higher TDP than the Ryzen 5 6600X it replaces will need a 105W TDP (vs65W TDP). The processor, which will reach 4.7 GHz on the base frequency speed and 5.3 GHz on the boost speed, will have a total of 38 MB cache. Offering 32 MB L3 level and 6 MB L2 level cache, the processor will leave the Core i9 12900K 5 percent behind on average in game performance, which will enter the market with a price of 299 dollars.
