Google has started testing a new search interface. The redesigned google.com search page includes context-based cards instead of tabs such as Images, News, Maps, Videos. You can add them to your search query by clicking on the tags in question.

Tested on a limited set of users, the interface was not well received by some. One of them even created a script that brings back the old design. It can be loaded into the browser using the Tampermonkey or Greasemonkey extension.

How does the new search interface work?

The new interface, for example, displays cards like “up to $300” or “Samsung” just below the search bar when you search for “smartphones”. You can add them to your search by clicking on them. The design in question looks similar on both desktop and mobile versions.

Google’s new search interface is currently displayed to a limited number of users searching from their computers and smartphones. It is not yet clear whether the company plans to use the design in question. The final decision will be made after the testing process.
