In a new video shared by Intel Graphics, the working and performance details of XeSS technology, developed as a competitor to Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR, were included. On the other hand, let’s underline that XeSS (Xe Super Sampling – Xe Super Sampling) technology is brand-independent and will be supported by modern graphics cards.

Intel XeSS can basically be described as a scaling technology. XeSS upscaling technology promises maximum performance gain with minimum quality loss by scaling images with the help of artificial intelligence and neural networks. According to what Intel shared, XeSS will come with four different quality modes: performance, balance, quality and ultra quality. According to the mode you choose, more FPS increase is provided, as well as a little more loss of detail linearly.

Intel XeSS provides 75% performance gain

In the video shared by Intel, the flagship Arc A770 card of the company’s Arc Alchemist family is used. Tested in games such as Ghostwire Tokyo, Hitman 3, Arcadegeddon, SoTR, Diofield Chronicle, Super People, Redout 2 and Chivalry 2, the technology offers a noticeable performance boost. Tested at 1440p in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the Arc A770 can reach frame rates of around 46 FPS when XeSS is not active, and around 87 FPS when activated, depending on the selected mode. Showing a similar rise in other tests, XeSS promises an average of 75 percent FPS increase in performance mode and 25 percent in balanced mode.

Additionally, Intel plans to make XeSS available to all developers to facilitate integration with upcoming and existing games. In addition, it should be noted that XeSS support will be offered in Call of Duty Modern Warfare II, which will be released on October 28.
