With the big companies developing their own technology ecosystem, the smart watch market is also in a significant development. A report published in Counterpoint Research reveals the fierce competition of companies in this field. What is the situation in the second quarter of 2022?
Apple remains the leader of the smartwatch market
According to the report published by Counterpoint Research, the increase in the demand for smart watches in the last year continued in the last quarter. The smartwatch world witnessed a growth of 13 percent. Factors such as the recent economic disorder and the chip crisis all over the world do not have a major impact on this sector.
The biggest player in the market was Apple. Although the company experienced an 8 percent growth compared to the same period of last year, it is on a decline compared to the first quarter. The company holds 29.3 percent of the market share this quarter. On the other hand, it held a 36 percent share in the previous quarter.
Samsung is in second place with a percentage of 9.2. While the company experienced a growth of 1.8 percent compared to the same period of 2021, it also contracted compared to the previous quarter. Despite the embargo by the USA, Huawei has managed to keep its place in the sector at the top.
On the other hand, the largest smartwatch buyer continued to be the USA. However, one of the countries that attracted attention was India. The country has grown by 300 percent in the last year and is second only to the USA. In addition, China took the third place, while the whole of Europe found its place in the fourth place.
