Scientists have developed a new material that will replace fiberglass used in wind turbine blades, combining glass fibers with a plant-derived polymer and a synthetic polymer. The panels made of this thermoplastic resin have a strong and durable structure that can be used in turbines. Moreover, it was shared that the new material can even be used in cars.

This new material physically dissociates from the glass fibers when dissolved in a molecule called a monomer. In this way, materials were left that could be used in the same type of products. Now, with the new material they have developed, scientists aim to produce the first wind turbine blades, starting from small sizes, and test them in real life.
