Meltem Demirors, chief strategy officer of CoinShares, said in an interview that she sees Ethereum Merge as a “buy rumor, news, sell” situation.
The cryptocurrency industry is preparing for the Merge upgrade that will switch Ethereum (ETH) to a Proof of Stake (PoS) protocol, and this event is interpreted by some users as a rise for Ethereum.

About Ethereum Merge, some of the market analysts believe that the network upgrade may not fully benefit the second-ranked Ethereum (ETH) in terms of market cap.
Meltem Demirors, chief strategy officer of crypto asset management company CoinShares, described it as a ‘buy the rumor, sell the news’ event while suggesting in an interview that a macro environment such as high inflation could prevent new capital from entering Ethereum.
Demirors said in an interview:
“There is a lot of enthusiasm within the crypto community and the Ethereum community around Ethereum Merge about this event, which will potentially increase demand while significantly reducing supply. One of the facts on the macro side is that people worry about rates and macro. There is so much going on right now.”
He also added that Demirors:
“I don’t think there will be much new capital to buy Ethereum on these changing fundamentals and techniques. There are also some risks in the market that will have to be dealt with. So in my view, Ethereum Merge is buy a rumor, sell news.”
