Apple Will Be The First Company To Use 3nm Architecture In Its Processors

3nm processor sets produced by TSMC will be used by Apple for the first time. Of course, it is a matter of great curiosity that we will see these highly advanced chipsets on Apple's first device. Although the expectations are that Apple will use these sets on the iPhone 14, the news shows that we will wait a little longer.

TMSC, the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturer, has been producing chips with 3nm architecture lately. These chips, of course, are expected to take place in the infrastructures of new generation processors. So where will we first see devices with 3 nm processors?

Although the nm value does not make much sense for many people when buying a processor normally, it actually has an important role on performance. An abbreviation for the term nanometer, nm is 1/10000000 of 1 centimeter. 3nm means the distance between the transistors will be 3nm. This significantly affects processor performance. Apple wants to be the first company to benefit from this performance increase.

M2 Pros will be much more powerful!

According to the report of Commercial Times, we will see Apple products using 3nm chips in the second quarter of 2022. This probably means that we will see more tightly arrayed transistors with the M2 Pro series. As a matter of fact, very serious performance increases can be seen on Macs that will be released in the second half of 2022.

Of course, this breakthrough will not be limited to computers only. Among the chipsets built on 3nm, there will be chipsets such as the A17 developed specifically for iPhones. Of course, we will see this technology later in the new members of the M series and on devices such as the iPad. The A14 Bionic and A15 Bionic chips, which Apple is expected to offer in the iPhone 14, are based on 4nm and 5nm. In other words, the processors we will see in the iPhone 14s will already be powerful enough.

It is stated that TMSC has been producing 3nm chips regularly since last year. This means that there are now enough parts for the chipsets. On the other hand, 3nm chipsets may not be very long-lasting, because TMSC has started working on 2nm chips.
