The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) has announced the September inflation data, which directly affects all of us. As you can imagine, consumer inflation (CPI) also rose in September. Inflation, which reached 19.58 percent on an annual basis, increased by 1.25% compared to the previous month. This means that our purchasing power also decreased in September.

The data announced by TURKSTAT were also divided into categories. When we look at these categories, we see that the product category with the highest increase in September is unfortunately food and non-alcoholic beverages. The price increase in this category was 28.79 percent. While household goods increased by 23.27 percent, the price increase in restaurant and hotel services reached 23.27 percent. The product group with the lowest price increase was alcoholic beverages with 1.8 percent.

The statements made about the product items that determine the CPI reveal that 318 of the items that determine inflation have increased in prices. On the other hand; While there was a decrease in the price of 51 product items, there was no price change in 46 items. So, which product was the most expensive in September?

When we look at the data announced by TURKSTAT, we see that the product item with the highest price increase in September compared to the previous month was coal. This is not surprising because the increase in coal demand with the approach of winter affected prices by 33.72 percent. This item was followed by curly products with 30.46 percent, service fees with 29.52 percent, dormitory fees with 28.30 percent and private university fees with 24.25 percent.
