This method can help us understand how the universe evolved, what it’s made of, and where it’s going.

It is thought that details about the youth years of the universe, which are difficult to explore, can be revealed with a new method that scientists call the “spectral siren”. It is very important to discover the accuracy of the Hubble constant, because with this number, the age, history and structure of the universe can be discovered.

The Hubble constant is calculated using special detectors

The new study shows that there is a new way to calculate the Hubble constant using special detectors that capture the cosmic echoes of black hole collisions, so that the teenage years of the universe, which are difficult to study with other methods, can be easily studied.

Scientists claim that if they can measure how the signal resulting from the collision changes, they can calculate the expansion rate of the universe as well as its youth years. For example, current evidence suggests that most black holes detected are between five and 40 times the mass of our sun.

“So we measure the masses of nearby black holes and understand their properties, and then we look farther and see how much these black holes have changed, and that gives you a measure of the expansion of the universe,” said Ezquiaga, a NASA Einstein Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics Research Fellow.

Researchers are excited because as the capabilities of future tools increase, the method can open a unique window into the “young” years of the universe, about 10 billion years ago, that were difficult to study with other methods.
