Formula 1 Turkish GP, which we expect to have a permanent place in the calendar, as you may remember, made F1 fans sad and happy this year. After England removed Turkey from the red list, there is very little time left for the Turkish Grand Prix, which is now finalized. While there is little time left for the race that will open its doors to tens of thousands of people, as Webtekno, we had the opportunity to have a very pleasant interview with Intercity Istanbul Park General Manager Sadi Hezber.
As you know, Sadi Hezber is the name behind Formula 1’s arrival in Turkey. Hezber, who succeeded in returning the race to our country for the last 2 years as a result of long efforts and struggles, shared his thoughts about the race and Istanbul Park, which is known as one of the most challenging tracks in the F1 calendar. One of the most striking points of our interview was Hezber’s statements, “Great surprises await us on the asphalt this year.”
Before the interview, we dusted the track with the Caterham SP300R
The Catheram SP300R is one of the race cars with the closest equipment to F1 cars in Turkey. Before we interviewed Sadi Hezber, we toured the track with this vehicle, which can produce 300 horsepower on wheels, and witnessed the 8th corner, the most famous corner of Istanbul Park.
“Intercity Istanbul Park is one of the best tracks in Formula 1”
Sadi Hezber talked about how it felt to open the doors of Istanbul Park to tens of thousands of people after the race that was held without an audience last year. Emphasizing that last year’s race was chosen as the best race of the season, Hezber expressed that as Intercity, they are extremely proud of this issue.
Hezber stated that they are working hard to increase the audience experience and that they will host dozens of events with the race between 8-9-10 October.
“Interest in Formula 1 is increasing”
Stating that he has been in Istanbul Park since 2005, Hezber stated that great efforts have been made to promote Formula 1 culture in the management of Intercity, and that young people have also adopted Formula 1 thanks to the power of developing technology and social media.
Stating that local companies in Turkey should make progress in terms of their support for Formula 1, Hezber said that as Intercity, they put their hands under the responsibility for Formula 1, but local companies should use this platform better. Hezber used the following statements in the continuation of his statement; “If we want this job in the long run, if we want it to stay on the calendar in the long run, our local companies must also take the responsibility, we have very good brands and these brands should now be next to Formula 1.”
Stating that Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be extremely busy, Hezber said that the Intercity Cup races will take place just before the races and that people who come to watch F1 will also witness the performances of Turkey’s most successful pilots. Hezber reminded all F1 spectators that there will be many shows and events during the race days and that people should come to Intercity Istanbul Park early so that they do not miss even the smallest detail.
“One of the best among the Intercity Istanbul Park F1 tracks”
Conveying his views on the track, Hezber said, “We have made a really nice track. It is a track that is turned counterclockwise and has a very high difference in height, so it creates a roller coaster effect. It has very technical bends, we have a famous 8th bend and a new one. Although we are considered a track, it has become one of the cult corners of Formula 1. Drivers also love and want to race here. I have seen many tracks and I think this is one of the best tracks.
“A different asphalt awaits the pilots this time”
Stating that they renewed the asphalt of the runway in the past year, Hezber said that they used this asphalt in various events in the past year, so different surprises await the pilots. Using the expressions “When you look at the past, we have always hosted action-packed races”, the general manager used the following statements in the continuation of his statement; “There is a statistic, we still hold the record for the highest number of passes in dry weather. Passing means lots of action, lots of excitement and cruising pleasure. Our track also provides this in every sense. That’s why I think it will be very exciting even if the weather is dry or rainy. I am sure. ”
“We want the audience to come early to race days”
Expressing that not only Formula 1 but also Intercity Cup races will take place between 8-9-10 October, Hezber stated that the audience will witness the performances of Turkey’s most talented pilots thanks to this race. Hezber emphasized that many events will take place in Istanbul Park for 3 days, starting in the morning, and therefore the audience should be at Intercity Istanbul Park in the early hours.
