German automotive company ZF has been producing important parts for automobiles for over 100 years. It currently develops and manufactures powertrains and chassis for automobiles and commercial vehicles, with 230 production facilities in more than 40 countries. Today, ZF automotive came to the fore with the front axle that maneuvers 80 degrees.

ZF automotive has developed a front axle that maneuvers 80 degrees!

In the new video shared by ZF automotive, the new front axle system that can maneuver 80 degrees sharply was shown. The prototype, which was first tried on BMW’s i3 electric car, seems to be quite successful.

The main purpose of use will be to relieve drivers in urban traffic. Because, as you can see in the video in the tweet below, it is possible to park parallel to narrow areas that no car can enter under normal conditions.

The biggest reason for this is that the front wheels can turn 80 degrees, that is, almost to an angle of intersection perpendicular to the vehicle itself, thanks to the new axle system. It is not possible for it to be 90 degrees anyway. Because in this case, when it is done right or left, the front side will move so that the back of the vehicle remains fixed.

Of course, for the time being, issues such as which cars this technology will be used in and what effect it will have at high speeds remain unclear. But ZF has already had the success it had hoped for by applying this system to an electric car. Therefore, it can produce very useful results in small-sized cars designed for urban transportation and with relatively short ranges.
