Since the pandemic entered our lives, it has caused many radical changes. With these changes, which are more common in the field of business and education, our lives have shifted to digital at a much greater rate than before. We started to move less than we could handle almost every job with the computers at hand.

According to the results of the latest Turkey Nutrition and Health Survey (TBSA) conducted by the Ministry of Health, the said inactivity can lead to very bad results. It is even said that just “sitting” replaces smoking and worsens lifespan.

Adults in Turkey spend an average of 6.3 hours sitting:

According to the results of the aforementioned research, 4 out of 10 people aged 15 and over do not do enough physical activity in our country. While men spend an average of 6.4 hours a day sitting or lying down, this time is 6.2 hours in women on average. In general, people aged 15 and over spend an average of 6.3 hours a day sitting.

In people aged 19 and over, it was seen that men sit for an average of 6.3 hours a day, while it was 6 hours for women.

Physical activity protects against infection, promotes health:

Since physical activities keep the body alive, they are known to provide protection against infections. In this context, it is clear that they will be very functional in the current pandemic.

Of course, you don’t have to sign up for a gym to do physical activity. According to the information, even a walk for at least 30 minutes 5 days a week supports good health. For this, it is recommended that you get off a few stops earlier in public transport – if you are not in a hurry – and park your car behind the place where you will reach – again if you are not in a hurry.

The data were compiled by AA for the World Walking Day celebrated on October 3-4 in our country.
