The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), which is responsible for processes such as obtaining a driver’s license and issuing vehicle licenses in the USA, claimed that Elon Musk’s popular electric car company Tesla made false advertisements about autonomous driving technologies. Upon these allegations, a criminal complaint was filed against the company.
It is reported in the court application that Tesla has shown autopilot and autonomous driving technologies to be more advanced than they are. According to The Los Angeles Times, the company may have to face serious sanctions as a result of this complaint.
Tesla sales may be banned
According to the DMV’s application, the firm is accused of “making or disseminating untrue, inaccurate or misleading statements”. This complaint was sent to the legal authorities on 28 July.
The DMV also said that Tesla cars can never and will never act as autonomous vehicles at the moment. On the other hand, the Tesla front left unanswered requests for comments regarding this application.
