The popular video platform YouTube continues to receive features that will make watching videos more functional. The platform will allow zooming of videos as part of the new feature available only to Premium subscribers. This update will be available for both portrait and landscape videos.
Only Premium users will be able to zoom in video
YouTube has finally launched the long-awaited ability to zoom videos. Within the scope of the test feature called “Pinch to zoom”, it is possible to zoom the videos from 2x to 8x. However, it should be noted that the new feature is only available to Premium users with the experimental program.
The video zoom capability, which will be tested by September 1, will be included on YouTube if users like it. However, it is unclear whether it will be available to all users or only Premium subscribers after September 1st.
We know that there is a fill screen feature for YouTube videos. Since 16:9 videos do not fit well on frameless smartphone screens, it is possible to expand the video to the entire screen. But the new experimental feature will allow you to zoom in on certain parts of the video instead of filling the screen.
According to the photo shared by the platform, you can zoom in on the parts of the video you want using two fingers. Also after zooming in, you can move around in the video and take a closer look. The experimental feature allows up to 8x zoom.
Premium users can test the new feature from the Android app or YouTube website. Click on your profile photo to turn on the new feature and then go to the “try new features” section. But the video zoom is said to be delayed, it may not work properly until September 1st.
