Turkey talked about a suicide case last year, which revealed very striking details when scrutinized. A young woman named İpek Er, who was living in Batman, shot herself with a gun, and in the suicide letter she left behind, she said that a citizen named “Musa Orhan” had sexually assaulted her. All of Turkey reacted to Orhan, who was tried pending trial during the investigation process. One of those names was the famous actress Ezgi Mola.
As if the events were not enough; Musa Orhan’s lawyer, Mehmet Erkan Akkuş, filed a criminal complaint against Ezgi Mola. Evaluating the criminal complaint, the prosecutor’s office decided to file a lawsuit against Mola. Today, an interesting decision came out of that case. The court decided that Ezgi Mola had insulted her and ordered an administrative fine of 5,200 TL. The announcement of the verdict was left behind.
“Ezgi Mola is not alone” campaign was launched
Mola, who made a statement on social media about the events that took place last year, used the words “rapist” and “dishonest” for Musa Orhan. The fact that a lawsuit was filed upon this further disturbed the public, and millions of users, including artists, shared on social media using the hashtag “Ezgi Mola is not alone”. The verdict from the court seems to anger Mola and his fans even more. However, Ezgi Mola remains silent for the time being.
Although there was no statement from Ezgi Mola, some statements came from Musa Orhan’s Attorney Mehmet Erkan Akkuş. “This decision is a decision that will say ‘stop’ to the social lynching culture that is taken for granted over social media. Insulting and targeting on social media without any knowledge of the file is social media smuggling. We must trust the independent Turkish judiciary. ” said the lawyer, expressing that he was satisfied with the result.
By the way, let’s not pass without giving information about Musa Orhan’s situation. Siirt 1st High Criminal Court filed a lawsuit against Orhan for “qualified sexual assault”. A minimum sentence of 12 years is sought for Orhan, who is on trial pending trial.
