Microsoft Edge continues to rise: the most used browsers in July revealed

The most used browsers in July were announced. While the slow but steady rise of Microsoft Edge continues on the desktop, Google Chrome is falling.

According to Statcounter’s July 2022 report on the most popular browsers on different platforms, Edge continues its steady rise in the desktop market on the way to overturn Google Chrome. Microsoft’s browser reached 10.84% ​​last month, showing a 0.2 percentage point growth compared to June 2022.

Although Google Chrome dropped 0.74 points in July 2022, it continues to dominate with a huge 66.19% market share. Safari is the third most popular desktop browser with a share of 8.94%, and Firefox rounds out the top four with 8.08% (+0.28 points).

Even though Microsoft recently discontinued Internet Explorer 11, some users can’t move away from the former leader of the desktop browser market. Statcounter reports that around 0.75% still use the old Internet Explorer.

Here is the list of the most used desktop browsers:

  • Google Chrome – 66.19% (-0.74)
  • Microsoft Edge – 10.84% ​​(+0.2)
  • Apple Safari – 8.94% (+0.01)
  • Mozilla Firefox – 8.08% (+0.28)
  • Opera – 3.06% (+0.08)

On the mobile side of the market, Google Chrome has 65.16%, down 0.72 points compared to June 2022. Safari is second with 24.22% (+0.13) and Samsung Internet is third with 4.86% (+0.05 points). Microsoft Edge for Android and iOS is not included in Statcounter’s latest report due to its very small market share.
