When does Amazon Drive shut down?

Amazon will first remove its cloud storage application from the iOS App Store and Android Google Play store as of October 31, 2022. As of January 31, 2023, users will not be allowed to upload files to Amazon Drive. Users have until December 31, 2023 to view and download your files. After this date, files on Amazon Drive will no longer be accessible.

Will be exported to Amazon Photos

This change will affect Amazon Drive users worldwide. Photos and videos will be automatically transferred to Amazon Photos, other file types are recommended to be downloaded from Amazon Drive website and backed up to computer.

Why is Amazon Drive shutting down?

In the e-mail sent to users, Amazon states that they have taken the action to shut down the cloud service as they will focus on Amazon Photos, which they consider as an alternative to iCloud Photos and Google Photos.

Amazon Drive was introduced in 2015 with unlimited storage, after which users other than Amazon Prime members and Fire Tablet users were limited to 5GB. Since it did not provide a price advantage, it could not stand out from its competitors such as Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox.
