One of the biggest wishes from many Samsung fans has been the use of Qualcomm chipsets instead of Exynos in the flagship Galaxy S smartphones. Because Exynos processors, despite all efforts, could not outperform their Snapdragon competitors.

Samsung has also increased its commitment to Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets in its flagship models in recent years. 70% of Galaxy S22s sold worldwide use Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. Even the models sold in our country said goodbye to Exynos with the S22.

And now this situation is taken one step further. Qualcomm has announced that Samsung will only use the Snapdragon chipset in the Galaxy S23 models. Despite this, Samsung stated that it will not give up the Exynos project.

At the event where the 2022 second quarter results were announced, Samsung denied rumors that it would discontinue the Exynos chipset during a conference call with analysts. Instead, the company has stated that it will reorganize its processor business model and is pursuing a plan to increase its competitiveness over the long term.

In the light of all these developments, it is possible to say that Exynos processors will continue to live even if they are not used for Samsung’s flagship series. The Galaxy S is the only flagship series where the Exynos and Snapdragon mix remains. Samsung has never used Exynos chipsets for Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip flagships anyway, Snapdragon chipset has always been used in these devices.

But most of Samsung’s mid-range and entry-level devices use Exynos chipsets. These tend to be comparable or even better than competing options like MediaTek and Qualcomm. Therefore, it does not seem necessary for Samsung to kill Exynos.
