Interviewing Casey Newton, Instagram President Adam Mosseri announced that Instagram will phase out testing of TikTok-like full-screen streaming over the coming weeks. However, there was a fix that Instagram users wanted: Mosseri shared that it will temporarily show fewer posts to users in the suggested posts section. But he did not share the net meaning of ‘less’.
In fact, this step back will not be experienced precisely because of the campaign launched by the users. Mosseri stated that the user concerns expressed in this campaign were also seen in Instagram’s own internal data. The platform will put suggested posts in the background for a while to improve its own algorithm. But when we look at Mark Zuckerberg’s statement, with the renewal of the algorithm, the suggested posts will appear twice as much as today.
