We have seen many scams about crypto money and NFT so far. Those who use the names of celebrities or hack their accounts, open the stock market and take all the money, infiltrate the stock markets and steal all the money, the total loss of the investors has reached billions of dollars.
Despite all that has happened, advertisements for bed sheets on the problematic platforms and stock markets, on various social media channels and on the internet, continue to appear in application stores. That’s why politicians and lawmakers have turned their eyes to Apple and Google.
Letter to Apple and Google
Sherrod Brown, the Democratic party Ohio senator, sent letters to Apple CEO Tim Cook and Google CEO Sundar Pichai on Thursday, asking companies for information on their processes for reviewing cryptocurrency trading and wallet applications. In a recent FBI report, it was revealed that 244 investors – on allegedly reliable platforms – had $ 42.7 million defrauded within 1 year.
In the letters sent by the senator to the CEOs, it was pointed out that “Crypto mobile applications are made accessible to the public through application stores”, and it was stated that hundreds of people were defrauded with fake applications in return for applications that provide easy transactions.
On the other hand, neither Apple nor Google has made any statement at this time. Still, Senator Brown is expected to turn the apps into phishing apps, and get answers to questions about the app stores’ review processes, whether users are informed about it or not. Tech giants must answer the senator’s questions by August 10.
