Space and aviation research will be able to progress faster thanks to quantum satellites. The quantum satellite produced by the Chinese Academy of Sciences was launched for experiments to be carried out in Earth orbit.
China pushes button for micro-nano quantum satellite era
Quantum has started to be used in aviation and space technologies as in many other fields. According to Xinhua news, the Lijian rocket was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center at noon. A first in the world, the micro-nano quantum satellite was sent to the depths of space.
The quantum satellite, called Jinan 1 and weighing less than 100 kilograms, will enter service after a month of testing. Jinan 1, which will serve as a quantum key network, will encrypt sent messages with Quantum Entanglement (quantum entanglement).
The developed satellite will be able to prevent decryption attempts with physical change, thanks to the law of quantum physics. It has been announced that new satellites will be launched soon to support the spread of quantum communications around the world.
Mozi, China’s first quantum satellite, was sent into orbit about 7 years ago. With a size of 6 times larger than Jinan 1, Mozi is 3 times slower than Jinan in terms of processing speed.
Officials who made a statement on the subject said, “We have realized real-time, satellite-to-earth quantum key distribution with micro-nano satellite and miniature ground stations. We are proud to be the first in the world.” made statements.
