South Korean technology giant Samsung announced a while ago that some Samsung phones can be used as digital car keys. According to the company’s statements, this feature would facilitate the work of vehicle owners and eliminate the necessity of carrying a physical key. Now it has been expected and Samsung has released its new feature for Galaxy S21+, Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

According to the statements made by Samsung, the digital key feature could be used in some vehicles produced by Audi, BMW, Genesis and Ford at the initial stage. The feature offered to the smartphones we just mentioned is currently only available in the luxury electric motor car named Genesis GV60. Samsung will increase the availability of the feature in the future.

What exactly does the Samsung Digital Key offer to the user?

Samsung’s Digital Key feature, which is currently only available in South Korea, allows remote unlocking of an identified car’s doors, starting the engine, and sounding the horn in case of forgetting vehicles in large parking lots. Considering the possibility of stealing smartphones, the company also prevents the use of the said feature by someone else with a special system it uses in the Digital Key.

By the way, although this impressive feature is exclusive to Samsung for now, this situation seems to change in the future. Because Google announced that one of the features of Android 12, which it announced at I / O 2021, would be this system. Let’s not forget that with the release of Android 12, this feature is likely to reach the entire Android ecosystem. . .
