Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced his smart linear city project, called The Line, which will be built vertically in 2021, powered entirely by renewable energy. Now, images have been shared about how The Line city will look when its construction is finished.
The Line city will be built in a linear structure with a length of 170 km. The width of the city will be 200 meters and the height will reach 500 meters. The Line city will be a mirrored structure that stretches along the coast and reaches the deserts. When the city is completed, it will be able to accommodate a population of 9 million people.
There will be no roads or cars in the city. However, it will include a high-speed train that will allow you to get from one end to the other in 20 minutes. In addition, it is planned that the residents of the city will be able to reach the social areas with a 5-minute walk.
The Saudi Crown Prince said in a statement: “Designs that reveal the vertical layered structure of the city will challenge traditional flat, horizontal cities. The city will set a model for nature conservation and enhanced human livability. The Line will overcome the challenges facing humanity in today’s urban life and create an alternative It will shed light on their way of life.”
Neom project has problems
The Line is part of the Neom mega-city project built in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Employees on the $500 billion Neom project accuse management of making unrealistic demands. Riot Games withdrew from the sponsorship agreement due to the treatment applied to the tribes in the location where the project would be held and opposed to the project. In 2020, Neom would become the main sponsor of Riot Games’ LEC championship, but the deal only lasted 24 hours after backlash.
