Japanese bank SMBC has recently made some statements about NFT that will attract the attention of its customers.

SMBC, one of the largest banks in Japan, announced on Friday that it will provide better service by collaborating with blockchain startup HashPort to develop NFT and Web3 projects.

Bank of Japan SMBC Says It Will Expand Its Business in NFT Business

It was stated that within the scope of the cooperation of SMCB and HashPort, a business laboratory will be established that aims to do some studies on NFTs.

Last March, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), one of Japan’s largest banks, teamed up with game software company Animoca Brands to expand and develop the NFT market. But things did not go as expected.

MUFG also stated in February that it would suspend the blockchain payment option, claiming that it did not yield much. In November, an industry form, the community of Japan’s largest banks, published a white paper to delve into the possibility of a new cryptocurrency powered by bank wallets.
