An employee named Blake Lemoine stated that the artificial intelligence system had become sensitive.
Sharing an interview with the LaMDA model, Lemoine stated that this artificial intelligence began to feel like a human. Google, on the other hand, stated that there was no evidence to support the claim and decided to put the engineer on administrative leave. Now, there has been another development on this issue.
Google fires engineer who made claims about LaMDA
According to reports, Google fired Blake Lemoine, who claimed that LaMDA had become susceptible. Brian Gabriel, a company spokesperson, also confirmed the news of the layoffs in an email to The Verge.
Saying good luck to the engineer, the company added, “LaMDA has gone through 11 different reviews and a report was published earlier this year detailing the trajectory of the model.” Google also stated that they thoroughly examined Lemoine’s claims and found them to be completely unfounded.
It should be noted that Google’s announcement that the claims about LaMDA are unfounded is not surprising considering today’s technology. Many artificial intelligence experts also said that it is impossible for Lemoine’s claims to be true, and that the model has already been developed for such things.
