Ethereum (ETH) founder Vitalik Buterin stated that Merge is only the beginning, and that new updates will come.
Underlining that only 40% of Ethereum is completed, Buterin said that much more will come after Merge.
Speaking at the Ethereum Community Conference in France, Buterin talked about developments far beyond the network’s transition to Proof-of-Stake. According to him, “Merge” is only the first phase of a series of planned upgrades.
Buterin said that while Bitcoin advocates think that Bitcoin is 80% complete, Ethereum supporters believe that Ethereum is only 40% complete. According to Buterin, only 55% of Ethereum will be complete after Merge.
Buterin pointed out that Ethereum can process much more transactions in the future:
“Ethereum can process around 15-20 transactions per second today. Once completed, it will be able to perform 100,000 transactions per second.”
At the time of writing, Ethereum is trading at $ 1,574 according to CoinMarketCap data.
