We have been used to seeing multiple rear camera setups on smartphones for many years. However, Samsung is transitioning to a new era in the cameras of affordable phones. Allegedly, the Galaxy A54, Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A24 will have “less cameras”.

Galaxy A54, A34 and A24 will not have depth sensor

The new report from Korean news source TheElec revealed that Samsung will switch to triple camera setup in mid-segment models. The report said the company wanted to remove the depth sensor.

However, this decision does not mean that the Galaxy A54, A34 and A24 cameras will be bad. The cost spent on the depth sensor is planned to be transferred specifically to the main camera. Therefore, it is possible to say that the overall camera quality will increase.

TheElec report also revealed the camera setups of the new models in the Samsung Galaxy A series. It seems that there will be an increase in Megapixels of both Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A24 models, especially Galaxy A54.

  • Galaxy A54: 50 Megapixel primary, 5 Megapixel ultra wide and 5 Megapixel macro
  • Galaxy A34: 48 Megapixel primary, 8 Megapixel ultra wide and 5 Megapixel macro
  • Galaxy A24: 50 Megapixel primary, 8 Megapixel ultra wide and 5 Megapixel macro

We don’t know why Samsung has given up on the depth sensor, but rising costs in the tech world are forcing all companies to become more affordable. Reducing the costs in the Galaxy A series will also lead to the Galaxy A54, A34 and A24 being sold more affordable.
