It looks like Facebook will split the News Feed into two by making a new design change. The company announced two different streams to be seen in iOS and Android apps in a statement today. The tab you’ll see when you first open the app will now be called Home, and it’s designed for you to discover Reels, Stories, and other customized content. An all-new Feed tab will show content from your friends, groups, Facebook Pages, and favorites, and there will be no “Recommended For You” posts.

Both tabs will be available on both iOS and Android versions of the Facebook app and will appear in the shortcuts bar starting today. According to Meta’s press release, the contents of this bar are designed to change based on which tabs users spend more time on, but anyone can pin tabs to make sure locations don’t change. The company aims to roll out the updates globally next week.

This update appears to be part of Meta’s desire to make Facebook a little more like TikTok. However, with its new name, the Home tab shows where Meta’s priority is when it comes to Facebook, and feed is on its way to becoming more of a “discovery engine” in the future.

It’s also worth noting that the Home tab will still show posts shared by friends and family, but surrounded by machine learning-selected recommendations…
