Minecraft developer Mojang has announced that NFTs will be banned on the game’s servers.

Mojang, the developer of Minecraft, one of the most popular game series in the world, does not want to see the game used with independent NFT projects.

Mojang, a studio owned by Microsoft, shared the changes to be made in Minecraft usage guidelines, and it was noteworthy that they were all related to NFTs. The company announced that it will ban blockchain technology on game servers that are independently managed by users. The company will also ban the use of Minecraft-related images in NFT projects.

“Minecraft will not allow blockchain technologies to be integrated into our servers to ensure players have a safe and inclusive experience. Minecraft-related skins and personal items cannot be used for NFT content”

Mojang stated that NFTs contradict the spirit of Minecraft.

“The speculative pricing and investment mentality around NFTs is taking our main focus away from gaming. It encourages profiteering, which we think is inconsistent with the long-term fun and success of our players.”

Mojang noted that previously some independent servers allowed the use of NFTs and provided NFT rewards for players.
