Microsoft has added a new feature to Windows 11 Media Player for users who make music CDs and want to transfer their music to computer. While music CD burning and ripping may seem like an outdated feature, Microsoft wants to make its new media player a full-featured application.
The new feature is part of the latest update and it’s worth noting that only a few formats are currently supported. The CD rip feature, which will be needed by users who want to copy music from CD to computer (if available in this period), was introduced with version 11.2206.30.0. Regarding the new functionality, Microsoft said, “We brought CD playback support to the media player in March. With the latest update we are adding support for CD ripping as well. Formats supported in this release include AAC, WMA, FLAC, ALAC.” made the statement.

Microsoft says its goal is to deliver a modern multimedia experience on Windows 11. The new media player started rolling out to users in November. The old version of Windows Media Player is still available but will not receive new updates.
Microsoft states that they have designed the new media player to make it more fun for users to listen and watch multimedia content on Windows 11 and are excited to introduce it to all users.
“At the heart of Media Player is a full-featured music library that lets you quickly browse and play music, create and manage playlists. If your music collection is in Groove Music, your library and playlists will automatically migrate to this new experience. The new Media Player update will replace the Groove Music app. The custom playback view will include album art and rich artist images, which will appear in full screen and mini player.” says.
