According to online sources, Microsoft plans to return to the once traditional three-year development cycle for Windows. This means that new versions of the software platform will be released every three years. However, the software giant will introduce more new features to existing versions of Windows that are already in the market.
The new version of Windows will arrive in 2024
The news comes just one year after Microsoft announced that it was moving to the annual release cycle for new Windows versions. According to the source, the next major release of the Windows operating system is in 2024, i.e. It will be released three years after the release of Windows 11, and this version is expected to be Windows 12. According to Windows Central, Microsoft has canceled its next major update, also known as Sun Valley 3. Most likely, in 2023, developers will roll out new features for previously released versions of the operating system.
Also, with the release of Sun Valley 2, aka Windows 11 22H2 update, Microsoft will reportedly launch a new Moments engineering program that will allow new features and capabilities to be deployed outside of mainstream OS versions. New features in the client version of Windows are expected to be released every few months, but no more than four times a year.
