WhatsApp has not made any innovations in the status update section for a long time. In 2017, status updates, until then only text-based, later evolved into a form where users could share videos and photos. It has been about five years and now this section is being updated once again.
According to the news of WABetainfo, with the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.22.16.3, there is also a voice message option in the status update. In other words, users will be able to share voice notes in addition to photos and videos. WhatsApp has named this feature as “voice status”.
As can be seen from the screenshot, there is now a microphone icon at the bottom of the status page, and users can record their voice notes and share them with other WhatsApp users by pressing this button. Below the microphone are the usual text, photo, video sharing options.
