Samsung introduced GDDR6 DRAM technology, which can offer high bandwidth. The technology, which draws attention with its high memory speed, is quite assertive in performance.
Samsung GDDR6 DRAM will offer 24 Gbps memory speed
The company announced that it has managed to produce 16 Gigabit GDDR6 DRAM technology with a processing speed of 24 Gbps, which is the first in the industry. Manufactured using EUV (Extreme ultraviolet) technology, GDDR6 DRAM is built on the third generation 10nm.
Having managed to significantly increase the graphics performance of the new generation graphics cards, Samsung underlined that its new technology can also be used in cards developed for game consoles and artificial intelligence. The technology, which has low power consumption, will significantly extend the battery life of laptop computers.
Samsung also introduced DVS (dynamic voltage switching) technology, which adjusts the operating voltage according to performance requirements, to users. Manufacturers will be able to use Samsung’s both 1.35V and 1.1V GDDR6 technologies.
GDDR6 DRAM, which will operate with a voltage value of 1.1V, will provide approximately 20 percent energy savings. The company stated that 20 Gbps and 16 Gbps GDDR6 DRAM options will also be included.
