The automobile industry has been in a deep crisis for a long time. As it is known, the COVID-19 outbreak has caused disruptions in supply chains. As such, automobile manufacturers have turned to alternative solutions, and French automaker Renault seems to have found the solution it was looking for.

Renault has launched a new fast-selling program for the Arkana SUV, which it actively sells in the European market. This program, called “fast track”, limits the delivery time for a new car to 30 days. Considering that the delivery time has increased to 5 months in Europe, we can say that this is a really great program. So how does Renault deliver a car in 30 days with the Fast track method?

Combinations on cars have been reduced!

Renault Arkana was normally sold in 6 color options. The company reduced this number to 3 under the Fast Track program. These colors were black, pearl white and gray, which helped speed up production. Moreover, the equipment options have also been simplified. When consumers want to purchase an Arkana with a standby period of 30 days, they can only choose the equipment package called RS Line. In addition, this vehicle is offered with a single engine option. All these combination simplifications have reduced Renault’s delivery time to 30 days. According to the statements made, 50 percent of all Arkana sold in France in June 2022 were purchased under the Fast Track program.

Tesla, Peugeot and Dacia also apply similar methods

As a matter of fact, this method is not exclusive to Renault. For example, Tesla also shortens the waiting time with a program similar to Fast Track. Dacia, on the other hand, started selling express delivery cars under a program called Up & Go. Dacia, which only gives the Duster model with fast delivery for now, will have included all its models in this program by the end of the year. By the way; It should be noted that the rate of Duster sold within the scope of Up & Go is 30 percent. In the statements made by Stellantis, it was announced that the Peugeot 408 will be sold with only two trim levels.

Are we giving up on privatisation?

When we look at the steps taken by the companies and the shared figures, we witness that the consumer’s perspective on automobiles has changed. Because it is very difficult to reach cars and consumers who have money want to get their car as soon as possible. At this point, first color and then hardware level preferences have begun to be abandoned. If all car manufacturers create similar programs, we can witness that the cars we see on the roads often have the same colors.
