Dinosaur remains belonging to a previously undiscovered dinosaur species were unearthed in the Northern Patagonia region, according to scientists who published an article in the journal Current Biology. Although the dinosaur is about 11 meters tall, its arms are only 60 cm long, that is, the size of an average human arm. The dinosaur’s skull is 1.2 meters.
Scientists say that this dinosaur, called Meraxes gigas, is carnivorous, according to researchers, and that small arms give this giant an advantage in survival. Juan Canale, who wrote the article, said, “I think these proportionally small arms have a kind of function. Large muscle entrances and fully developed chest straps are seen in the skeleton, so there were strong muscles in the arms.”

Small but strong arms allow the dinosaur to start tearing it apart with its claws, hold onto its partner during mating, and get support to get up when they fall.
