The statement in question was made by Pratiti Raychoudhury, one of Facebook’s top executives. Making remarkable statements, Raychoudhury said that he thought the research results were misinterpreted and that the research in question was not that important. In fact, according to Raychoudhury, the company is trying to help young girls, in particular, have the best experience.
“The research is based on only 40 young people”
In the blog post shared by the Facebook manager, it is stated that the research in question is based on the data of only 40 young girls, and generalization cannot be made with this limited data. In addition, Raychoudhury, who stated that the statement “1 out of every 3 young girls” obtained within the scope of the research is also wrong, says that what is meant by the 3 girls here is girls who declare that they are uncomfortable with their body postures.
Facebook’s disclosures about cloaked research have offended some critics. Ryan Mac from the New York Post said that he found this statement “unfortunate”, emphasizing the contradictions between the statements in the blog post and the research. In this case, the critic asked whether the research or the explanation was wrong, and stated that the confusion should be cleared.
