Serving more than 4 million passengers throughout August, Istanbul Airport ranked first in the list of Europe’s busiest airports. During the 1-month period, 9,956 domestic flights and 21,541 international flights took place.

Three airports from Turkey took place in the top ten of the list.

According to the 8-month reports prepared by the General Directorate of State Airports Authority, a total of 163 thousand 635 flights, including 47 thousand 538 domestic flights and 116 thousand 97 international flights, were carried out at Istanbul Airport for 8 months.

Sabiha Gökçen Airport was ranked 4th in the list of the busiest airports in Europe. Located on the Anatolian side of Istanbul, this airport has hosted 11 million 826 thousand 342 passengers in the last month. While it was announced that Antalya Airport, which is in the tenth place of the list, hosted 8 million 113 thousand 438 passengers in August, it was stated that the air traffic at Atatürk Airport, which is now mostly open for cargo and private aircraft traffic, is 26 thousand 811.
