The Central African Republic has launched the national cryptocurrency Sango Coin.
Faustin-Archange Touadéra, President of the Central African Republic (CAR), announced that they have launched their national cryptocurrency called Sango Coin at an online event on Sunday. Sango Coin will be the two cryptocurrencies used in the country, along with Bitcoin, which has been accepted as a legal currency in the past months. It will also be used in the country’s infrastructure works and metaverse projects.
Saying that Sango Coin will be the next generation currency of the Central African Republic, President Touadéra also said that the token will be “the gateway to the natural resources of the Central African Republic”.
As we mentioned earlier, the country announced the Bitcoin project, which includes plans such as a crypto island called Project Sango and a digital wallet. Later, the country announced that it will also tokenize the country’s natural resources as part of the project.
