This Year’s Winner Was “Golden Ring”

Today, many researches are carried out on the universe full of obscurity. In these studies, photography is frequently used as a document. We see eye-catching photos taken by space agencies, astronauts or scientists. The development of photography technology has enabled us to record the unique beauties of the Milky Way even from the balcony of our homes. With the advancing technology, we have been seeing the magnificent photographs of photography lovers who are interested in space more often. So much so that the branch of Astrophotography has emerged under photography.

British insurance company Liberty Specialty Markets and BBC Sky at Night Magazine are organizing an Astronomy Photo Contest for the 13th time this year. The competition, run by the United Kingdom’s Royal Observatory Greenwich, brings together thousands of amateur and professional photographers from all over the world every year, allowing us to see impressive photographs.

“Golden Ring” won the competition

More than 4,500 photographers from 75 countries participated in the competition this year. Photographer Shuchang Dong won the first prize for his photograph “Golden Ring”. Dong took this photo with Fujifilm’s mirrorless model XT-4 in Tibet during the solar eclipse on June 21, 2020. Winning the £10,000 grand prize, Dong’s photograph will be exhibited at the National Maritime Museum, along with a selection of other successful photographs from the competition.
