Mickey Mouse could become public domain in 2024
It was stated that as a result of the copyright law of the United States, Disney could lose the rights to Mickey Mouse after 95 years. This means that the popular character may become public domain from 2024; that is, it has now revealed that it can be used in different productions outside the company. The law states that copyrights are valid for 95 years.
However, we have seen the character appear in many different forms over the years. According to The Guardian, experts say the company will lose the rights to the original Mickey Mouse; however, he stated that he can keep the rights of different variations of the character until the end of 95 years.
Disney had previously lost the rights to a very popular character. Winnie the Pooh, which took an important place in the childhood of most of us, became public domain in 2022. After that, it was seen that the character would even appear in a horror movie.
