Previously, users who wanted to delete their Instagram account could only do so from the computer. Now, it is possible to delete Instagram account directly from the mobile application. Instagram has added the option to delete account in its iOS app to stay within Apple’s new AppStore rules.
Previously, it was possible to suspend the account from within the mobile application, but it was not possible to delete the account. Therefore, many users who wanted to delete their accounts could only use the suspension method.
“We want to give people more ways to control the time and experience they spend on Instagram,” an Instagram spokesperson said in a statement. “We’ve introduced the option to delete your account in Settings on iOS, and you’ll still have the option to temporarily deactivate your account.”
After deleting the Instagram account from the mobile application, you have the opportunity to give up for 30 days. After this period, Instagram completely deletes the account.
