Apple introduced the MacBook Pro model with Touch Bar, powered by the new M2 processor, at the World Developers Conference (WWDC) event and soon offered it for sale. Although the technical specifications of the 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M2 chip are known, it was a matter of curiosity what changes were under the case. The iFixit team has shared a video of disassembling the 13-inch MacBook Pro, allowing us to clearly see the changes made to the interior.

New processor only!

When the case is opened, it seems that the new model is not much different from the previous 13-inch MacBook Pro with Apple silicon processor. There is no change in the Touch Bar, same layout, same structure, everything internal is the same.

Things get interesting when the board is changed. The M1 processor in the previous model, the M2 processor in the new model are removed and the M2 chip is installed in the old device. Unsurprisingly it fits, but the Mac doesn’t continue to work that way. On CPU replacement, key components of the device stop working, including Touch ID, keyboard.

13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 processor has slow SSD speeds

Recently, it was revealed that the SSD of the 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M2 chip was underperforming. iFixit has confirmed that Apple is indeed using a single 256GB SSD chip in the M2 13-inch MacBook Pro. As you know, the M1 model uses dual 128GB SSD chips. The team believes that the reason Apple went down this path is due to a lack of components.
