2021 has been a turning point for Facebook. The company announced that it is rebranding Facebook Connect in 2021. Thus, all services connected to the platform came under the umbrella of the newly established Meta company. Of course, Metaverse, the crazy project of Mark Zuckerberg, which we have been seeing constantly lately, also entered our lives.

However, things are not going as planned for Meta right now. Because the company started to take some measures due to the economic problems that affected the whole world, including our country. However, some of them are the kind that will attract people’s reaction.

Meta wants to get rid of some employees through ‘mobbing’

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg made statements that will be talked about for a long time at the company’s weekly question-and-answer meeting. “If I had to bet it would be one of the worst downfalls we’ve seen in recent history,” the CEO said.

As one of these measures, Meta halted hiring in parts of Facebook due to less-than-expected revenue growth in May. In fact, according to Zuckerberg’s statements at the meeting, Meta’s engineer recruitment target this year fell from 10 thousand to 6-7 thousand levels.

The most striking statement of the CEO at the meeting was that he would apply implicit mobbing in order to send some employees from the company. In short, the company is preparing to establish leaner and better working teams in this process. Employees who do not comply with this definition are asked to leave. Zuckerberg used the following statements on the subject;

Realistically, there is a group of people who probably shouldn’t be in the company. By raising expectations, setting more aggressive targets, and simply raising the temperature a little bit, I hope some of them realize that this place is not for them and leave of their own accord. Of course, there is no problem on my part in this regard.

Meta is not the only company preparing itself for the economic crisis. Because software giant Microsoft announced that it has reduced its recruitment targets a while ago. At the same time, Tesla said it will cut about 3 percent of its workforce in the next three months.
