Instagram has been giving great importance to Reels posts lately. Reels, the platform’s TikTok competitor, has reached a significant number of users. Instagram has now started testing some changes related to video sharing. Accordingly, all of the short videos are gathered under one roof.

It is stated that the social media platform is working on the feature of sharing all videos as Reels. Struggling with YouTube Shorts and TikTok, Instagram Reels seems to be the only address for videos on the platform from now on.

According to a tweet from social media consultant Matt Navarra, video posts on the platform will soon be shared in Reels. From now on, it seems that all videos will meet with followers on Reels, which allows 60-second sections.

Considering the steps Instagram has taken recently, this may be quite logical. The company, which first extended the duration of the reels and then made it full screen, can now eliminate the video complexity with this move. For longer videos, IG TV will keep its place on the platform.

The company seems to have decided that it is unnecessary to offer two different video formats. The fact that users use Reels more for video sharing seems to accelerate this situation. We don’t know when this innovation will be active yet, but we think we won’t have to wait long for it anytime soon.

An Instagram official also approved the innovation and used the following statements:

We’re testing this feature as part of our efforts to simplify and improve the video experience on Instagram.

Meta, the umbrella organization of Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook, can follow the same path on Facebook to simplify video sharing. Sharing videos as reels is currently being tested on Facebook as well.

So what do you think about this path that Instagram follows in video sharing? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
