NASA, scientists continue their search for life in space. This image, taken on Mars, shows where the first evidence of ancient microbial life outside Earth may be. The area in this image taken from NASA’s Perseverance vehicle has been named “Enchanted Lake” by experts.

Enchanted Lake on Mars may have hosted life in outer space

It may come as a surprise that this area, which does not have any water bodies, is called a lake. But water on the surface of Mars is thought to have disappeared billions of years ago. And while there is water on the planet, this area is also believed to be a lake. This lake may have been one of the sources of life in space billions of years ago.

The Enchanted Lake is located in a delta at the western end of Jezero Crater, which scientists believe was filled with water billions of years ago. The delta covers a huge fan-shaped area containing thin layers of sedimentary rock. This geological feature of the region makes scientists believe that there is water on Mars.

These rocks are thought to be composed of mud, silt and sand from the river flowing into the crater lake. It is believed that organisms around the lake may also be trapped in a fossilized form between the layers. That’s why Perseverance continues its research around the lake.

It is stated that the shared image was taken in April. Perseverance has been continuing its progress in the delta since this date. The spacecraft currently continues to work in the area of sedimentary rocks that the mission team calls “Hogwallow Flats”. In the coming weeks, Perseverance will sample some nearby rocks.

The collected samples will be sent to Earth on a separate mission. Scientists will finally have the opportunity to analyze the samples collected to determine whether life exists on Mars. A possible remnant of life could be proof that we are not alone in space.

These remains may also shed light on unraveling some of the mysteries about how life evolved on Earth. Do you believe there is life in space? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
