HTC Desire 22 Pro comes preloaded with ‘Viverse’ apps to navigate the metaverse and manage your crypto and NFTs. Also, the phone has a built-in crypto wallet for Ethereum and Polygon-based assets. This is good news for altcoin projects.

HTC’s new metaverse phone includes altcoin and NFT wallet

Smartphone maker HTC has designed its new phone to be compatible with metaverse altcoin projects. Now it has launched its first ‘Viverse’ phone with crypto and NFT functionality. With HTC Desire 22 Pro, you can access your metaverse content on the phone, including crypto and NFTs. They also pre-installed apps that let you manage them. A Viverse app also lets you buy NFTs in a digital marketplace and ‘create your own sandbox’, according to an announcement.

Like previous HTC ‘cryptophones’, the Desire 22 Pro supports Ethereum and Polygon-based assets. To this extent, it comes with a built-in crypto wallet for Ethereum and Polygon-based altcoins. The device allows you to mirror content wirelessly to the VR headset. It’s optimized to work with HTC’s lightweight Vive Flow VR headset with HDCP 2.2 connectivity for this. Additionally, a Vive Manager app lets you set up and manage your VR gear.

HTC Global Product Manager Shen Ye made a statement accompanying the announcement. “Your smartphone gives new immersive experiences as the perfect partner for ‘VIVE Flow’, whether it’s meeting colleagues in virtual reality or enjoying your own private cinema wherever you are,” said Shen Ye.

The HTC Desire 22 Pro will be priced as a powerful midrange device. In this respect, it will not challenge the top tier of iPhones and Android devices. It has a resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Also, it has a 6.6 inch Gorilla Glass display. The phone has Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G and 8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage. Like all modern smartphones, there are a number of cameras with which you can take pictures.

HTC and crypto phones

As you know from Kriptokoin.com, HTC was one of the early adopters of crypto technology. As long ago as 2018, it produced the Exodus 1 smartphone. This phone had a built-in crypto hardware wallet and the ability to run a full Bitcoin node.

Smaller Exodus 1s followed soon after. At the time of its launch, the company’s ‘decentralized chief’ Phil Chen said that “in five years, storing a Bitcoin node or other altcoin nodes on your phone will become irrelevant.”

Three years later, we’re not there yet. But rival manufacturer Samsung has for some time added a secure element to store crypto private keys on its devices. In recent years, HTC has replaced these smartphone rivals and focused on the Vive virtual reality headsets.

With the Desire 22 Pro, it’s trying to combine its Blockchain phone credentials with its VR lineup and lay its claim on the first metaverse smartphone. But rival Apple is preparing an AR/VR headset for release next year. That’s why HTC’s window of opportunity is narrowing day by day.
