Hyundai, like other brands, has been taking important steps in electric cars recently. The South Korean manufacturer, which introduced its first model last year under the IONIQ brand, also introduced its new electric vehicle. The company’s new electric model, IONIQ 6, draws attention with its different design and features.

Porsche 911 traces on the Hyundai IONIQ 6

The new model, which bears traces of the Prophecy concept introduced by the brand in 2020, looks quite different from the sedan designs we are used to. It distinguishes itself from other sedan models, especially with its curved rear section design. We can even say that with this design, it is closer to the Porsche 911.

The IONIQ 6 reminds us of the old 911 models with its taillights extending from one end to the other and two spoilers at the rear. On the front of the new electric model, we see a more classical design adopted. On the side, a different shoulder line than we are used to welcomes us. The shoulder line of the new model, instead of rising, draws a slight curve and descends towards the rear.

In the interior, the IONIQ 5 is followed in the new model. Both a 12-inch digital instrument cluster and infotainment system screen layout are also featured in the new model. The two-spoke steering wheel is also the same as on the IONIQ 5.

In addition, the added center console increases the usability and quality feeling in the vehicle. The 64 different colored ambient lighting used also adds a new atmosphere to the interior. On both sides of the cockpit are small screens that act as side mirrors. It is worth remembering that this feature is not allowed in every market.

Hyundai has not yet shared the technical data of the vehicle. However, we know that the IONIQ 6 will rise on the E-GMP EV platform, which was also used in the IONIQ 5. The power output on both vehicles will likely be similar. The IONIQ 5 has a single-engine and rear-wheel drive entry version that can produce 228 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. There is also a dual-motor and all-wheel drive version that can deliver 324 horsepower and 605 Nm of torque.

IONIQ 5, which has two different battery options of 58 and 72.6 kWh, also has a fast charging feature of 800 V. IONIQ 5 also offers a range of approximately 480 km according to WLPT standards. However, with the IONIQ 6 this figure may be higher. Because the IONIQ 5 has a wind resistance of 0.288, while the IONIQ 6 has a value of only 0.21.

This is what we know about Hyundai’s new model for now. We plan to reach more information about the vehicle in the coming days. So what do you think about the new Hyundai IONIQ 6? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
