Elon Musk, who said at the beginning of this month that people working at Tesla and SpaceX should be in the office at least 40 hours a week, created a shock effect for those who want to work remotely. Musk, who warned SpaceX and Tesla executives with a harsh language, got what he wanted and all employees at Tesla returned to the office. But it was realized that the office in California was not ready for so many people.
Tesla office does not have enough desks and parking
Musk, who wants to see the Fremont office full six days a week, or even seven days if necessary, said that he has adopted a similar business model. However, the posts made by Tesla employees on social media have the potential to create a new crisis in Tesla. The office allegedly lacked sufficient workspace and free parking for cars.
The new report from The Information revealed that employees returning to the office in crowds bring problems with them. Many people who have worked completely remotely for almost two years could not find a place to work in the office. According to the report, the number of employees in Tesla’s Fremont office has doubled compared to before the pandemic.
Employees who spoke to The Information complained about the lack of desks in the office, insufficient seating and not enough parking for their vehicles. Even the Wi-Fi speed offered by the electric car giant managed to annoy the employees.
Tesla’s unfair dismissal of dozens of employees after the pandemic was another topic of discussion. The EV giant started layoffs by terminating the contract of a certain part of its workforce.
Still, Elon Musk said that he will allow remote work in some cases. He noted that exceptions can be made for “special contributors” to the company, but this must be approved by management.
